Friday is Library Day

We visit the library each Friday to return our old books and select new books. Children will bring a new book home each Friday and need to return by the following Friday. There is a labelled blue box inside the classroom door, please remind your child to return the book to this place. Children are allowed to take our two books at a time.

Sport Thursday 2.45-3pm

Rooms 1, 3 and 4 are participating in Junior Sport programme on Thursday from 2.45-3pm. The purpose of this is to teach children a variety of skills and to give them the opportunity to play a game using these skills at the end of the session.
This term we are focussing on the following summer sports; tennis, t-ball and cricket. Next term we will focus on Gymnastics, Rippa Rugby and Uni-hockey.

Meet the Teacher

Wow! What a fantastic turn out we had! It was wonderful to meet so many parents, many for the first time.
If you weren't able to attend. Please feel free to come along and have a chat. The best times are before school, or a Monday, Thursday or Friday afternoon.
Remember I am still looking for additional parent helpers (aunties, uncles and grandparents welcome too).
This week we are learning about the letter 'p', and the blend 'pl'. Please help your children with this at home.

Our focus this week at writing time has been to use finger spaces and to hear and write the beginning, middle and end sounds in words. You can help by encouraging your child to write at home.

Welcome to 2010

Welcome to our Room 3 Blog. This blog will be used to let everyone know what we are learning in Room 3. It will enable parents to assist with their child's learning at home. If you are like me and very rarely get a chance to pop in to visit your child at school, this will be a great way of staying informed. Blogging is new to me, but the way of the future, so let's learn along the way.

My name is Sandra and I am teaching in Room 3 this year. I have been at Burnham School since January 2009. Although this is a change of level for me, the majority of my teaching experience has been in the junior school. I am looking forward to teaching in Room 3 and leading the Junior School.

My e-mail address is sandra.keenan[dot]burnham.school.nz; please feel free to e-mail, phone or pop in to stay in touch.
